It’s no surprise on this show that Dave has shared his story about infertility and the time it took for him to become a father. The unending numbness and despair he would never get to be a father. The one thing he always wanted. That’s why when Carol Silver asked to be on the show and share her experiences, it was a no-brainer.
Carol is a successful professional, but her personal life has no shortage of remarkable moments. From experiencing 9/11 firsthand to beating cancer to her journey through infertility, she is the true embodiment of the word “survivor.”
She shares these challenges in hopes of giving others encouragement and inspiration along their own journeys. Carol’s most recent passion has been creating and hosting Hollywood Sports Mom, a weekly podcast with special guests covering celebrities, athletes, parenthood, infertility, cancer, karma, and other curveballs in life.
This isn’t the mindset from a father but gives some amazing insight for husbands to understand their emotions and their spouses’ emotions when the unthinkable happens. Carol has gone through multiple trails trying to raise her own little family, and each time she was beaten down she got up stronger and unwilling to quit.
We dig into that mindset Carol had on becoming a mom, and although not directly talked about, give us dads some insights and tips to this extreme challenge.
Buckle up and get ready cause this ride is a good one.

There isn’t anything quite like a child’s imagination. The wonder, the innocence, the ability to
come up with the seemingly crazy. Where does it all go when they inevitably grow up?
Well, today, we have Jeff Fajans. He is a PhD in Positive Organizational Psychology with a focus on creativity and also the musician “Mr. BooDaddy” dubbed “Beastie Boys for Babies”. Jeff started making kid-friendly music with a
parental twist to keep his child’s interests yearly. What started as a passion project
turned into something more.
Jeff sat down, and we shared how creative outreach is crucial to not just your child but you as
a father. Even if you feel you don’t have a creative bone in your body, Jeff breaks down ways you
can inspire creativity not only in your child but in you as well, opening up a realm of possibilities.

It's that time of the year. Dorms are opening up. Kids are getting ready to play sick to miss out on a test. Stress is building on both ends. If you have a child getting close to the college years, then this episode (and every dad) is for you. Today, Dave O talks with college financial expert Brad Baldridge.
Brad Baldridge is a leading financial planner for over 20 years. He has been specializing in helping clients and their families in college planning. Brad saw this challenge and started his own company, "Taming the High Cost of College." Brad offers proven ways to maximize scholarships, tuition costs, financial aid, and so much more so we as parents don't have to worry about losing our savings or our children being in over their eyes with debt.
Today, Brad shares so much about how to get ready for college. From early to late stage planning, how going to the "off-brand" school could be just as beneficial as "name-brand" how to maximize financial aid, how you could even get to school with very little to no college debt, and a ton more.
Be sure to check out Brad's free training and resources for college planning, as well as his podcast "Taming the High Cost of College," all over at tamingthehighcostofcollege.com.

After two weeks off, we are back with an all-new, Fearless Fathers-esq episode for you dads.
Body Dysmorphic Disorder affects 1.7% to 2.9% of the general population — about 1 in 50 people. This means that more than 5 million people to nearly 10 million people in the United States alone have BDD. It’s possible that BDD may be even more common than this because people with this disorder are often reluctant to reveal their BDD symptoms to others. (International OCD Foundation)
Today, Dave and Ryan share our thoughts regarding watching for signs in your children and yourself. Pounding beers and wings can be fun, but is there a possibility of going overboard?
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), with appropriations from Congress, added a new NATIONAL 988 HOTLINE. Think 911 for mental health services.
This landmark appropriation makes it easier to talk (or text) with trained crisis counselors for mental health, suicide, and substance abuse. This also helps veterans connect directly with the veteran's crisis line through text and call.
*For veterans using the 988 hotline to reach the crisis line. Press 1 if calling to be connected, or if by text, use shortcode 838255.

Vacation time is right around the corner. For so many families, that could mean freakouts from little ones messing up routines. Children on the autism spectrum are the most affected when it comes to not having their routines.
It’s estimated that one out of every 44 children falls on the autism spectrum which means that many of your listeners are likely affected. Not to mention those who have children with attention and/or mood disorders. Up to now, no one has really explained how these parents can successfully incorporate travel into their families’ lives. Finally, someone has. Dawn Barclay's new book, Traveling Different: Vacation Strategies for Parents of the Anxious, the Inflexible, and the Neurodiverse is set to release on August 15th.
Aside from her being our first female guest, Dawn has been in the travel business for decades, both as an award-winning travel reporter and with her family's travel businesses. She is also an author of many fiction novels, writing as D.M. Barr.
In the book, Dawn goes over so many aspects of traveling with children who may be on the spectrum and how you can make it as easy as possible to have an amazing family vacation!
In this episode, we touch on How Dawn came up with the idea for the book, some pieces you can use today to get your child ready for a trip, Dave's experience taking his child on their first family trip (and how much of a hassle that was).
This book is not just for parents who have children on the spectrum. This is a must read for any parent who wants to travel, but they aren't quite sure they can.
Be sure to pre-order your copy of Traveling Different: Vacation Strategies for Parents of the Anxious, the Inflexible, and the Neurodiverse on Amazon, your local bookstore, and even ask your public library if they can carry it for those parents who may not be able to purchase the book before August 15th.
